ALEXANDRE ALVES COSTA and SERGIO FERNANDEZ

The Afurada Heritage Interpretation Center, from the architects Alexandre Alves Costa and Sergio Fernandez, opened in March 2013.

The need to preserve the memories and traditions of Afurada, a small fisherman village at Douro river mouth, and the need to requalify abandoned ware houses wich held important fishing artwork in the past, was the starting point and the opportunity for the architects to transform the old ware houses into a new museological space dedicated to the village.
